Abkhazian side appoints envoy to work up security mechanisms
Abkhazian Deputy Defense Minister Garri Kupalba is a member of the Abkhazian delegation participating in Georgian-Abkhazian negotiations on security issues. After the meeting in Sukhumi on May 20, he was appointed envoy to hold consultations and to conduct preparatory work in the period between the meetings on security mechanisms, Abkhazian Foreign Minister Sergey Shamba reported. According to him, such a decision was made pursuant to the statement issued by Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Georgia Heidi Tagliavini after the Georgian-Abkhazian meeting on security mechanisms in Sukhumi on May 20. The Georgian side will also appoint its envoy, and both the men will solve current questions between the meetings of the delegations on security mechanisms.
