Businessman to run for Chechen presidency
Malik Saidullayev, chairman of the board of directors of the Milan concern, has announced his intention to run for the Chechen presidency. Mr Saidullayev made such a statement to RBC TV channel. He reminded that in conformity with the legislation, a candidate for participation in the election campaign has to submit a certain number of signatures or to make a deposit. "I decided to make a deposit and register as a candidate for the post of Chechen president on the basis of it in order not to make people do extra work," he said.
The Chechen presidential election is set for August 29, 2004.
