PACE representatives to visit Chechnya
A delegation of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) is arriving in the Chechen republic on June 2. PACE rapporteurs on Chechnya, Andreas Gross and Rudolf Bindig, head the delegation. "According to the agenda of the visit, the PACE delegation will meet with members of the republican government in Grozny and have a series of meetings with the leadership of the prosecutor's office, law enforcement agencies, the board of lawyers, as well as representatives of political parties and public movements acting in Chechnya. Besides, the delegation is expected to visit a maternity hospital in Grozny and some temporary accommodation centers for internally displaced persons (IDPs), a source in the Chechen government said to the Caucasian Knot correspondent.
The PACE delegation will spend two days in Chechnya. Then Andreas Gross and Rudolf Bindig are expected to meet with the leadership of neighboring Ingushetia and to familiarize themselves with the situation in the camps for Chechen refugees.
