Vladikavkaz residents report on three cases of discharges to Terek in May
Today, according to local residents, the waters of the Terek River have once again changed their colour. The Terek River got the reddish hue because of lilac water discharged to the river from a pipe not far from the Krasnogvardeisky Bridge. During May, this is at least the third case of pollution of the Terek River.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Vladikavkaz, the Prosecutor's Office, the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being) and the "Rosprirodnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Nature Supervision) began an audit in connection with a video record posted on the Internet on May 16, which showed the reddened water in the Terek River. The above public institutions have learned about the possible pollution of the river only from social networks where the video record was posted. In particular, according to an official from the "Rosprirodnadzor" Department for North Ossetia, the agency got no official complaints about the incident.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported on the incident to the "Rosprirodnadzor" for North Ossetia, and the agency sent experts to the place. The inspectors of the "Rosprirodnadzor" together with the Environmental Laboratory of the Centre of laboratory analysis and technical measurements confirmed the pollution of water, the press service of the "Rosprirodnadzor" Department for North Ossetia reports.
According to the official from the "Rosprirodnadzor", the experts have detected the alleged source of the pollution; however, it should be checked.
Let us remind you that in September 2011, the "Rosprirodnadzor" revealed pollution of the Terek River with waste discharged into the river by plants and municipal utilities companies of North Ossetia and Kabardino-Balkaria.
