Relatives of editor-in-chief of Azadlyg paper arrested in Azerbaijan

Rovshan Zakhidov and Tural Zakhidov, relatives of Ganimat Zakhid (Zakhidov), the editor-in-chief of the oppositional newspaper "Azadlyg", have been sentenced to administrative arrests for 25 and 30 days, accordingly, in Azerbaijan.

In the opinion of Ganimat Zakhidov, his relatives are prosecuted because of the programme "Azerbaijani Hour", which is run by him.

The "Azerbaijani Hour" is becoming more and more popular and brings true realities to the population. By arresting my relatives, authorities want to put pressure on me..." said Zakhidov.

Ali Kerimli, the leader of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), has also associated the Zakhidovs' arrests with the programme "Azerbaijani Hour". Earlier, they also arrested Seymur Khazi, one of the anchors of the "Azerbaijani Hour", and Murad Adilov, a brother of another anchor of the programme Natig Adilov, Ali Kerimli has recollected.
