Kletskoe settlement is under threat of ecological disaster for water shortage
Until now, the authorities of the Volgograd Region have failed to allocate funds for pumping water into the lake of the rural settlement of Kletskoe, where 6000 residents are in a zone of ecological disaster. Appeals to the Governor are of no help, while the lake itself, wells and boreholes continue drying out.
By the beginning of August, almost all water bodies in the territory of Kletskoe were dry, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. The main Lake Kletskoe has lost more than 80% of its area; the groundwater level has also dropped essentially; wells have dried out; and the boreholes drilled deeper than 7 meters are filled in poorly.
The boreholes supply rusty water; and local residents are trying to clean it with caustic lime.
Currently, the issue is considered to allocate money from the reserve fund of the Volgograd Region to fill in Lake Kletskoe, Vitaly Sazonov, Acting Chairman of the Regional Committee of Natural Resources of the Volgograd Region, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. A draft resolution was prepared by the Regional Committee for Housing and Utilities, but within the past week the Governor could not find time to sign it, despite the aggravating situation in Kletskoe.
