Chechnya marks Russia's 'Independence Day'
A series of terrorist acts were committed in Grozny on June 12 when Russia's Day is celebrated. Three blasts thundered in the Chechen capital's Staropromyslovskii district alone. "It was just impossible to enter Grozny," Madina Avturkhanova, 48, resident in the Chechen capital, said in a conversation with Caucasian Knot's correspondent. "There were blasts, now here, now there. The military and police officers stood everywhere along the highway." Chechnya's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported "terrorist acts against federal service men and officers of republican law enforcement agencies were really committed in some Grozny districts" on June 12, but they refused to specify the number of victims with reference to instructions from superiors.
