Reports on number of victims in Ingushetia differ
According to preliminary information, over 30 people were killed and approximately 50 people were wounded as a result of rebel attacks on several settlements in Ingushetia, a source in the Ingush Emergencies Ministry told the Caucasian Knot correspondent. Reports on the number of people suffered in the combats are preliminary and quite discrepant. 45 wounded and 19 killed people have been taken to the republican clinical hospital. Ingush law enforcement agencies inform of 21 killed and 50 wounded people. According to unofficial reports, the number of victims of the rebel attacks is three times greater.
According to the Emergencies Ministry, there are victims both among officers of republican security agencies and among civilians.
"Ingush law enforcement agencies are in full control of the situation in the republic now. The rebels are being pursued. They have divided into small groups and are trying to escape to the mountains," an Ingush law enforcer said.
To remind, a rebel group numbering approximately 100 people attacked the town of Nazran at 10:45 p.m. on June 21. The rebels assaulted the Nazran border detachment, the building of the Ingush Interior Ministry and a temporary detention isolator. Another rebel group stormed ammunition depots in Karabulak, the building of the Karabulak town police department, and buildings of security agencies in the village of Sleptsovskaya. Fierce clashes lasted till 3 a.m.
