In Cherkessk, Alla Rusakova and her four companions go on hunger strike

Alla Rusakova, a resident of the capital of Karachay-Cherkessia, accused of defamation by a staff member of a hospital, has started an indefinite protest action against the violation of her rights by the authorities. Her protest was supported by four other persons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 29, 55-year-old Alla Rusakova announced her intention to go on hunger strike in connection with the unlawful, according to her, criminal prosecution in the case of defamation. The woman believes that her son died and she herself became disabled as a result of improper medical treatment received at the local hospital. Alla Rusakova treats the criminal proceedings against her as an attempt to "distract the public attention" from the case of her son's death.

Today, Alla Rusakova, Leyla Arkelova, Tatiana Lagutenko, Elena and Boris Poloviny have declared an indefinite hunger strike. The protesters came to the square in front of the government building of Karachay-Cherkessia.

According to Alla Rusakova, the hunger-strikers plan to stand in front of the government building till 8:00 p.m. Moscow time, and then they will place the tents.

Officials from the department of Karachay-Cherkessian government for treatment of citizens' appeals reports that "no one prevents the protest action, and the protestors are provided with protection and emergency medical care."
