Residents of Chechnya condemn persons suspected of setting ziyart on fire
Four young men, suspected of setting on fire a ziyart in Chechnya, are being transported from village to village, where local residents are holding gatherings and voicing public condemnation against them. According to the villagers, the young men have committed an absolutely unacceptable act and put shame on their families.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 16, in the village of Kurchaloi, the ziyart (mausoleum) of Saint Yangulbi-Sheikh was set on fire. Shamil Ergiev, Djabrail Usumov, Islam Yunusov, and Khamzat Uspaev, residents of the village of Mairtup, were detained on suspicion of committing the arson.
On November 18, in the villages of Kurchaloi, Geldagan, and Mairtup, Chechen residents held three gatherings, during which they voiced public condemnation against the persons suspected of the arson. This was reported by a staff member of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Chechnya.
According to an official from the local administration, the local residents are engaged in restoration of the ziyart.
Sakhib, a resident of the village of Kurchaloi, has noted that the situation with the ziyart is unusual, since the young people, who have committed the act of vandalism, are believers themselves.
Let us remind you that this is the second arson of the ziyarts in Chechnya committed during the month. At night of October 10, at the cemetery in Shali, unidentified persons set on fire the ziyart (mausoleum) of Durdi-Sheikh, one of the followers of Kunta-Khadji Kishiev, the founder of Sufism in Chechnya.
