Astrakhan woman wanted on suspicion of promoting terrorism
In Astrakhan, the criminal case has been instituted against 27-year-old Maya Duisengalieva, suspected of providing financial assistance to supporters of radical Islamism. The woman has been put on the international wanted list.
On December 7, the press service of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported that in October 2012, Maya Duisengalieva used her bank card to transfer to her friend 20,000 roubles "for the acquisition of a firearm to join illegal armed formations (IAFs) on the territory of the Russian Federation and the Syrian Arab Republic."
According to Andrei Khegai, Senior Assistant to the Chief of the ICRF's Investigating Department for the Astrakhan Region, the money was transferred to Farid Fatullaev, "who intended to become a militant in Syria," the "Interfax-South" reports.
According to him, Maya Duisengalieva got acquainted with Farid Fatullaev in the social network, "where Fatullaev openly declared his commitment to radical Islam and announced his intention to join the terrorists."
"Maya Duisengalieva was put on the international wanted list, and the court pronounced to take her into custody as pre-trial restriction measure," Andrei Khegai has reported.
