June 22 attack in Ingushetia claims 88 lives
The rebel attack in Ingushetia on June 22 claimed 88 lives, Ingush Deputy Prime Minister Khava Yevloyeva told with reference to updated information. Earlier, the death toll was set at 98 by the Ingush government.
Yevloyeva said they compared casualty lists of local administrations and the police and found that some names were on both lists. She said three bodies have not been identified. "Two of them are in military uniform, and one was wearing civilian clothing," Yevloyeva said. The attack wounded 117 people. "Prosecutors and the Health Ministry signed the wounded list," she said. "The wounded list may be updated," Yevloyeva said, noting that people with minor injuries may later seek medical aid. The families of 27 deceased civilians have received compensation payments, she said.
