Lagich
City type settlement in Azerbaidjan, in Ismaillinsky area, on a southern slope of the Big Caucasus, 35 kms from the area centre - the city of Ismailly. One of the ancient centres of art crafts (mainly metal wares). The copper utensils from Lagich (jugs, kazans, etc.) with engraved pattern was widely distributed on Caucasus in 18-19 centuries, was taken out to Turkey, to Iran. Lagich is also an important centre of carpet-making (there is a carpet factory in the settlement). Historical monuments were kept: the rests of Girdman-Kalah fortress, a stone waterpipe of 18 century, samples of dwellings of the beginning of 19 century with wall paintings made by local and Shemakhin masters.
