Resident of Ingushetia suspected of involvement in IS

Investigating authorities have suspected a 27-year-old resident of Ingushetia of taking part in the warfare in Syria for the "Islamic State" (IS), recognized as a terrorist organization. He has been put on the federal wanted list.

According to investigators, no later than May 15, 2014, the man departed for Syria, where he is voluntarily participating in the anti-governmental illegal armed formation (IAF) "Katiba-Akhmada", which is structurally included into the IS.

A criminal case has been opened against him under Part 2, Article 208, of the Criminal Code (participation in a foreign country in an armed formation, which is not envisioned by the legislation of that country, for the purposes contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation), says the website of the Investigating Department for Ingushetia of the ICRF.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, referring to Ingush authorities, that at least 30 residents of the republic have left for Syria to take part in the warfare; 17 of them were killed, and six returned home and surrendered to law enforcement bodies.
