South Osetia wants to be part of Russia, addresses Russian president
President of the breakaway republic of South Osetia Eduard Kokoity arrived in Moscow to deliver an official address about South Osetia's joining the Russian Federation to the Russian president and the Federal Assembly. Mr Kokoity told journalists about it in the Russian State Duma yesterday, June 10. "The purpose of my visit to Moscow is to deliver an address of the South Osetian parliament and the president about South Osetia's joining Russia to the Russian Federal Assembly and Russian President Vladimir Putin," Mr Kokoity said. In the address, South Osetia asks to recognize this republic. There are "political, legal and historic grounds" for it, according to Mr Kokoity, and "the request to make South Osetia a part of the Russian Federation does not contradicts the international law."
