Resident of Khasavyurt sentenced to six years in prison for links with militants

The Khasavyurt City Court has found Mamadkhan Mamadkhanov, an inhabitant of Dagestan, guilty of financing the armed underground. The maximum penalty under this article is 15 years in prison.

"As established at the court session, Mamadkhanov provided funding to an illegal armed formation (IAF) in order to support its activity," said the website of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan.

Mamadkhanov has been sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 6 years in a high security colony and further restriction of freedom for a term of 1 year.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this April the Supreme Court of Russia reduced to 5 years in colony the sentence to the native of Dagestan Elena Arshakhanova and Saida Khalikova, convicted in the case of transfer of money to the accounts of the "Islamic State", recognized as a terrorist organization.
