Serviceman from Chechnya goes missing in Adygea

Relatives of Ariskhan Movsarov, a conscript from Chechnya, who took his military service in the brigade deployed in Maikop, the capital of Adygea, cannot establish his whereabouts for more than two weeks. Movsarov had no conflicts with his fellow-servicemen; and the command of the unit would not report why he is absent at his place of service, relatives assert.

On April 29, Movsarov's mother and sister appealed to the Chechen Ombudsperson and the republic's leadership asking them to help in searching for the young man.

"He was taking his army service in the 33rd Separate Motorized Rifle Mountain Brigade stationed in Maikop. Since April 13, he stopped getting in touch with his relatives; while his direct commanders assert that they have no information about his whereabouts," said a source from the Military Commissariat.

"The commanders of the brigade claim that Ariskhan had voluntarily left the unit and is absent at his service since April 1. However, his immediate commanders are not able to explain how and why he could have done it. He had no conflicts with his fellow-servicemen or commanders. There are a lot of unclear circumstances in this case," one of the soldier's relatives said on the condition of anonymity.
