ICRC to continue its work in Ingushetia

President of Ingushetia Murat Zyazikov met with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Magas on August 18 to discuss problems of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Chechnya and North Osetia and prospects concerning the ICRC's help to the republic.

As reported by the Ingush President's press service, the head of the ICRC mission in the North Caucasus, George Kunz, promised to pay more attention to the problems of IDPs from North Osetia's Prigorodny district in future. He said he would include this group of refugees in the ICRC's humanitarian programs and consider all proposals concerning the financing of different kinds of social projects for IDPs to be presented by the ICRC's office in Ingushetia. George Kunz also told about one of the ICRC's most important projects in Ingushetia - the program of the reconstruction of a pumping station and construction of a water pipeline in the villages of Psedakh and Inarki, Ingushetia's Malgobek district. This project will solve the problem of supplying drinking water to the above-mentioned villages.
