Muridism
The term entered into the literature for a designation of Muslim religious-mystical current, distributed on Northern Caucasus in 19 century. The basis of muridism are ideas and cult practice od sufism, connected with aspiration of its supporters (leaders - Gazi Mukhammad, Gamzat-bek and Shamil') to struggle for creation an Islamic theocratic state (imamat). Created by the 3rd imam ща Dagestan and Chechen Republic Shamil', imamat existed till 1859. The basic support of the regime made the militarized murids.
