Rights defenders turn to police about fight at elections in Dagestan

The association for the defence of electoral rights "Civilian Control" has sent an appeal to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) demanding to investigate the fight that broke out on the voting day at a polling station in Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the Dagestani village of Gotsatl several young people, who supported one of the candidates, broke the ballot box and started a brawl.

According to Alexander Brod, a co-chair of the "Civilian Control", it is very important to give legal assessment of this situation, the "Lenta.ru" reports.

"If it was a deliberate provocation, such incidents are unacceptable and the perpetrators must be punished," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Mr Brod as saying.
