Witnesses in Caliphate case tell about found IED

At the trial in Rostov-on-Don of the case of an attempt to create Caliphate in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) told about the circumstances, under which an improvised explosive device (IED) was found in the apartment of one of the defendants. According to the defence, when removing the IED, policemen acted carelessly, as if they were not afraid of explosion.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case against 10 KBR residents, accused of trying to create Caliphate in the territory of the republic with the Sharia form of ruling, arrived at the court in August. On September 27, the indictment was read out.

On October 18, two prosecution witnesses were questioned, who conducted a search of the apartment of the defendant Islam Shogenov, namely, Arsen Iritov and Anzor Makhotlov, operative agents of the Centre for Combating Extremism.

According to Iritov, the box with the IED was found in the apartment under the bathtub by his colleague Anzor Makhotlov. Then, explosive experts came, took away and liquidated the IED.

In his turn, Makhotlov explained that on January 11, 2014, he went to carry out a search of Shogenov's apartment with the aim of looking for and confiscating weapons and ammunition.
