Azerbaijan wants international inspectors to be sent to occupied territory

The question "The situation on occupied territories of Azerbaijan", proposed by Azerbaijan, was discussed at the 59th Session of the UN General Assembly. "The appropriation of land and property, exploitation of natural resources, and other illegal actions on the occupied territories of Azerbaijan," are mentioned in the draft resolution. It is a serious violation of the international humanitarian law, in particular the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.

It is pointed out in the draft resolution that Azerbaijan supports the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group for the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and welcomes corresponding efforts on the part of the Council of Europe and the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

"Azerbaijan urges the OSCE to send a mission of representatives of UN Member States to the occupied territories to make an examination and draw up a report on all aspects of the situation on the occupied territories of Azerbaijan," reads the draft resolution.
