Three offices of the FSB Department were wounded in the skirmish.
"While checking operational information obtained from FSB sources, officers of the FSB Department in Ingushetia blocked a small group of rebels in a private house in the Tsentr-Kamaz district of Nazran. When the officers made an attempt to detain the rebels, one of the bandits sheltering in the house set off an explosive device. He died from wounds at the scene, and three FSB officers were wounded. The woman and two children who were in the house did not suffer," the source said. "One of supposed members of illegal armed groups was detained at the scene."
The killed rebel has been identified. He turned out to be Akhmet Sambiyev, Shamil Basayev's closest associate and a successor of Arab Abu Kuteib Akhmet, reported the FSB Department in Ingushetia. According to special services, Sambiyev was one of the chief rebel instructors in mining and work with explosives and engaged in the training of young terrorists in Chechnya and Ingushetia.
