Round table "Terrorism in Films and TV Reports" held in Moscow
The round table discussion titled "Terrorism in Films and TV Reports" was held at the Moscow House of Nationalities on December 16, political scientists, human rights activists, journalists, and cinematographers being participants in it. "When everybody knows that terrorists watch all reports and see how facts are distorted, for example 350 people are mentioned instead of 1,200 and terrorists are said to make no demands, it arouses passion even greater," Svetlana Gannushkina, head of the Civic Assistance Committee, said carrying participants back to the Beslan tragedy.
Zalina Bogazova, a student of School 1 in Beslan, which terrorists captured in early September, arrived as a member of the delegation to present the documentary film Beslan shot in North Osetia soon after the tragedy. "Society doesn't care about terrorism. Well, in the first two hours or even two days people still say that the number 350 is horrifying. But you can comprehend what terrorism is only when you knew everyone of those 350 people. And no documentary can explain to people in Beslan what their children were killed for."
