Four persons killed in shootout with power agents in Azerbaijan

Four persons were killed and one person detained after giving an armed resistence to law enforcers, the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan has reported today.

According to power agents, a group of local residents who had joined the terrorist organizations acting outside Azerbaijan, had purchased explosives and weapons and planned to commit terror acts in the territory of the country.

On January 31, a special operation was carried out to detain the suspects M. Ulubekov, G. Damirov, F. Sadykhov, T. Almamedov and S. Mamedov, the press service of the SSS of Azerbaijan has reported.

Ulubekov Damirov, Almamedov and Mamedov rendered armed resistance, by opening fire from submachine guns and pistols, and were killed by return fire. Sadykhov was detained as a suspect, says the today's statement posted on the website of Azerbaijani SSS.
