Azerbaijani MoD confirms deaths of five soldiers

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has published the names of five persons killed in an armed clash at night of February 25 and claimed that Armenia violates the agreements on removal of dead bodies from battlefields.

"The appropriate activities were scheduled for 12:00 a.m. of February 26 to be conducted under the mediation of the OSCE and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for the purpose of the removal from the battlefield the bodies of soldiers Agshin Ismayil ogly Abdullaev, Shakhlar Yashar ogly Nazarov, Tural Abdul ogly Gashymly, Zulfi Ragim ogly Gadimov, and Zakir Nazim ogly Jafarov. They were killed while suppressing large-scale provocations committed by the Armenian armed forces along the whole frontline at night of February 24-25," states the report of the Azerbaijani MoD released today.

According to the Azerbaijani MoD, "at the beginning of the procedure for removal of the bodies from the battlefield, Armenia violated the conditions of the agreement earlier achieved with participation of international mediators and intentionally put forward new unacceptable demands with a view to impede the operation."

"Meanwhile, the enemy used weapons of various calibres, including artillery units, and shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces in other sections of the front, and then made an attempt of planned sabotage penetration in several directions," reports the Azerbaijani MoD.
