Organizer of Sochi ally in Navalny’s support arrested for eight days

The court found Vitali Nebieridze guilty of holding an unsanctioned "He is not Dimon for us" and sentenced him to 8 eight days of arrest. The defence intends to appeal against the sentence.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 26 many Russian cities hosted anti-corruption actions – the public reaction to the inquiry conducted by Alexei Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Fund (known as the FBK) into the corruption schemes with the use of charitable funds, acting, according to the FBK, in the interests of Russian Premier Dmitry Medvedev. Mass detentions of protesters took place, in particular, in Krasnodar, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don and Makhachkala.

The case of Vitaly Nebieridze was considered today. The participants in the session were policemen, the defendant, accused of an offence, his advocate and activists of public organizations, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports from the courtroom.

"The judge heard only the police’s protocols. No evidence of my client's guilt was presented, because there was no rally; therefore he could not organize it," the advocate Mikhail Benyash told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, noting that he intends to file a complaint against the judgement.
