Court appoints medical examination for Arthur Panov after his complaint about poisoning

At the trial on plotting of a terror act in Rostov-on-Don, defendant Arthur Panov has claimed that he was poisoned after his arrest. The defendant has requested the court to appoint a forensic medical examination of his health state. The court granted the motion. According to an advocate of Arthur Panov, after the health state of his client deteriorated, he also stopped the hunger strike earlier announced by him.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Arthur Panov, a 19-year-old resident of the town of Krasnodon of the Lugansk Region of Ukraine, is accused of plotting a terror act, and 34-year-old Maxim Smyshlyaev, a resident of Rostov-on-Don, is accused of aiding and abetting Arthur Panov. On March 7, the criminal case was reopened. The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" recognized Maxim Smyshlyaev as a political prisoner.

According to Arthur Panov, during the period of his detention, he was poisoned with toxic substances. As a result, according to him, he got sharp deterioration of his sense of vision and pains in his spine. Besides, the defendant also complains about occasional bleeding from his nose.

The defendant has noted that he filed a complaint to the administration of the SIZO (pre-trial prison), but he was advised to apply to the court. Besides, Arthur Panov has also complained about the loss of medical certificates from his personal file.

According to advocate Sergey Moskovkin, his client is now to undergo a complete medical examination, and after that he will be given a medical report to clarify whether Arthur Panov can be held in custody.
