Defendants confess of plotting attempt on Ramzan Kadyrov, investigator reports
The investigation into the case of plotting of an assassination attempt on the leader of Chechnya has almost been completed, and defendants have confessed to the crime. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a source from the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in September 2016, it became known about the prevention of another attempt on the leader of Chechnya. Three suspects were detained, including Shamkhan Magomadov, Beslan Zakaraev, and Aziz Alviev. Investigators believed that the failed attempt was organized by members of the Yamadaev family, with whom two out of the three detainees are associated.
"The investigation into the criminal case of an assassination attempt on Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has almost been completed. All the three defendants, including Aziz Alviev, Beslan Zakaraev, and Shamkhan Magomadov, have fully admitted their guilt during the investigation," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a source from the ICRF's Investigating Department for Chechnya.
According to the source, law enforcers have not yet succeeded in revealing the whereabouts of Isa Yamadaev. Several weeks ago, a team of Chechen law enforcers arrived to the United Arab Emirates to detain him; however, Isa Yamadaev managed to escape, the source explained.
Relatives of one of the detainees doubt the version voiced by the authorities. "The man has suddenly disappeared, and for several months, no one knew anything about him. And then it suddenly turns out that he was captured by Kadyrov's people and that he confessed that he had been plotting an attempt on Ramzan Kadyrov. I believe that those guys were forced to incriminate themselves and others," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Akhmad, a relative of one of the defendants.
