War on innocents
Another special operation as part of combating terrorism was carried out on Tuesday, 5 April 2005, in Khasavyurt, Dagestan. The operation was carried out jointly by officers of the internal affairs ministries of Dagestan and Chechnya, Lieutenant Colonel Aitemir Salimgireyev, chief of the Khasavyurt Main Department of Internal Affairs, told Interfax.
Salimgireyev explained the rebels were hiding in a flat at 7 Zarechnaya St. When the police were trying to find out if they really were here, the criminals opened fire through the door. The skirmish resulted in two rebels killed and one captured.
One Chechen police officer and a woman from the opposite flat were seriously wounded and a five-year-old son of the woman was killed, said the Khasavyurt police chief.
Later on Tuesday, Chechnya's First Deputy Prime Minister Ramzan Kadyrov told Interfax the rebels killed in Khasavyurt were influential members of illegal armed formations.
He said they were identified: the name of one of them was Abdul Kadyrov and he was the "emir" of Chechnya's Gudermes district; another one was a resident of Dagestan, someone Dibirov, who was the "emir" of the Khasavyurt district.
"One more influential member of illegal armed formations was detained," said Ramzan Kadyrov. Without giving his surname, he mentioned his name was Anvar.
Lieutenant Colonel Salimgireyev told Interfax the detained rebel, Anvar by name, was on the wanted list for committing a terrorist act at the Khasavyurt Main Department of Internal Affairs in 2003 and for killing several police officers.
