Film director from Nalchik gets third prize for his film "Closeness"
The film " Tesnota" (Closeness) directed by Kantemir Balagov from Nalchik and a film of a Chinese director were awarded the grand prix of the 11th Andrei Tarkovsky International Film Festival "Zerkalo" (Mirror), which was held in the Ivanovo Region.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in May, the film "Closeness" was awarded the prize of the international cinema media at the Cannes festival. In Sochi, at the "Kinotavr" film festival, the film got the award "The Best Debut", as well as the prize of the Russian Guild of Film Critics.
The film "Closeness" describes a story which occurred in Nalchik in the late 1990s. The film focuses on a story of a local Jewish family, from which a young man and his bride were kidnapped.
On June 18, the closing ceremony of the 11th Andrei Tarkovsky International Film Festival "Zerkalo" was held at a building of the Ivanovo State Philharmonic. The film "Closeness" by Kantemir Balagov, a student of Alexander Sokurov, shared the main prize of the festival film with the film "I Am not Madame Bovary" by Chinese director Feng Xiaogang. The film "Closeness" by Kantemir Balagov also won the audience award, the "Interfax" reports.
