Krasnodar court refuses to cancel the fine imposed on Circassian activist

The Krasnodar Territorial Court has dismissed the appeal of Aidamir Basto, who was fined for taking part in the moleben (prayer) on the Day of the Adygs' Memory. Ruslan Gvashev, the Chairman of the Board of Elders of Circassians-Shapsugs, also fined for taking part in the moleben, is waiting for the decision on his appeal.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 2, the Lazarevskoe District Court of Sochi found Ruslan Gvashev guilty of organizing an unsanctioned action on the Day of the Adygs' Memory and fined him by 10,000 roubles.

On June 2, Ruslan Gvashev told the "Caucasian Knot" about his categorical disagreement with the court judgement. He noted that "on May 21, for many years Adygs have gathered near the Tulip Tree, and they need no permits."

The Krasnodar Territorial Court has refused to cancel the fine imposed on Aidamir Basto for participating in the moleben near the Tulip Tree, the edition named "Kavkaz.Realii" has reported today.

According to the edition, an appeal to the Territorial Court was also lodged by Ruslan Gvashev, the Chairman of the Board of Elders of Circassians-Shapsugs; however, he does not know yet whether his appeal had been accepted by the court or not, adds the edition.

Mr Gvashev has stressed that "we need to unite all forces to stop punishments for the moleben," the edition named "Natpress" has reported today.
