Nalchik hunger-strikers temporarily switch to bread and water

After meeting the prosecutor, Zhanna Mazikhova, Director General and owner of the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "Zvezda Elbrusa", and Arthur Baidaev, a former director general of the company, who are on a dry hunger strike in Nalchik, agreed to switchover to bread and water.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ms Mazikhova went on a hunger strike on June 26; Mr Arthur Baidaev joined her; and on June 30, the district prosecutor invited them for a talk.

The hunger-strikers assert that the property of the CJSC "Zvezda Elbrusa" CJSC and the adjacent section of the National Park, leased for 49 years, were captured by raiders. They demand to repeal the verdict of the Nalchik court, which found Baidaev guilty of illegally obtaining a credit of 7 million roubles.

According to Ms Mazikhova, if she and Baidaev "fail to receive more specific information" by July 3 or 4, they will again resume their dry hunger strike.
