Seven Ingush residents convicted for attacking power agents

The court has sentenced seven residents of Ingushetia to long prison terms, finding them guilty of involvement in the armed underground.

According to the verdict of the jury, Khabul Aushev has provided housing to members of the armed underground and kept their weapons, Rashid Aushev attempt on the life of a road-and-post (DPS) inspector in Karabulak, while Zyaudin Chaniev participated in shelling of policemen and triggered and explosive device, which killed a policeman and wounded another one.

Today, the North-Caucasian District Military Court has sentenced Rashid Aushev to 19 years; Chaniev – to 20 years; Tsurov – to 17 years; Chibiev – to 18 years; Khashtyrov – to 15 years; and Tochiev – to 17 years – all of them will serve their terms in a high-security colony.

Khabula Aushev was found as deserving indulgence, because of his small children, a non-working wife and positive characteristics. He was found guilty of complicity to members of the armed underground and sentenced to six years in a general-security colony.

Relatives of Maskhud Chibiev assert that prior to detention he was summoned for questioning to the Ingush Centre for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), where, as relatives report, he was tortured and forced to denunciate himself.
