Law enforcers killed in Khasavyurt used to be fighters of Ukrainian secret services
Before Crimea joined Russia, FSB officers, who were killed during a special operation in Dagestan, used to serve at the Centre for Special Operations of the Security Service of Ukraine (known as SBU).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 28, during a special operation on the outskirts of Khasavyurt, two members of the Khasavyurt grouping of militants were killed. Two law enforcers were also killed, reported the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).
According to the Security Service of Ukraine, Denis Rakitsky and Alexander Baibutlov, the law enforcers, killed in Khasavyurt, were former members of the SBU's special unit "Alpha". This was reported by Elena Gitlyanskaya, the press secretary for the SBU. "Alexander Baibutlov served in the special unit 'Alfa' since 2002, and Denis Rakitsky since 2003. Both were Lieutenant Colonels," reported the SBU press secretary as quoted today by the "Ukrainskaya Pravda".
According to Elena Gitlyanskaya, both of the officers were wanted for desertion, the "Ukrainskaya Pravda" reports.
In fact, earlier, the laws enforcers killed in Khasavyurt used to work for the Security Service of Ukraine and started to work for the FSB after Crimea joined Russia. This was confirmed by a source close to the FSB.
