Alexander Lapshin leaves Azerbaijan

Blogger Alexander Lapshin and his mother flew to Israel. This has been reported today by a source from the Baku airport.

The "Caucasian Knot" that on September 11, the President of Azerbaijan signed a resolution to pardon Alexander Lapshin, sentenced on July 20 to three years of imprisonment on the charge of illegally crossing the country's border. After release from custody, Alexander Lapshin was brought to a hospital. According to the Azerbaijani authorities, he committed a suicide attempt. On September 12, the blogger was discharged from the hospital.

Alexander Lapshin is a citizen of Russia, Ukraine, and Israel. The criminal prosecution of Alexander Lapshin in Azerbaijan was launched in connection with his visits to Nagorno-Karabakh.

Alexander Lapshin left Baku and flew to Israel together with his mother, the RIA "Novosti" reported at 8:06 a.m. Moscow time with reference to a source from the Baku airport.
