Krasnodar woman sentenced to compulsory labour for dancing in cemetery

Sofia Burger, a resident of Krasnodar, has been sentenced to 440 hours of compulsory labour. The Leninsky District Court has found her guilty of insulting believers' feelings by dancing in a cemetery.

Last March, Burger danced on the grave in the territory of the All Saints Cemetery in Krasnodar, demonstrated indecent gestures and smoked a cigarette. A video was filmed by her husband on her phone and posted in Burger's social media page.

In court, the young woman admitted her guilt and repented of her actions. However, she stated that her actions in the cemetery were intended to express her negative attitude towards Nazism; and the dance and musical accompaniment were a reference to the fact that Nazism should be buried.

The court has sentenced Burger to 440 hours of compulsory labour, which could be commuted to freedom deprivation if she maliciously evaded them.

Earlier, the court concluded that in her social network page, Burger had posted "a video in which a man, against the backdrop of the Kremlin's Senate Palace, spits in the direction of the Kremlin at the time of the explosion," and treated this record as discrediting Russian militaries. In June 2023, Burger was fined again, this time for posting extremist symbols.
