Khachatur Gichyan accused of supporting "Sasna Tsrer" regiment hospitalized
The health state of Khachatur Gichyan accused of support for the unit "Sasna Tsrer" has deteriorated. He was transferred to a hospital for prisoners.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Khachatur Gichyan, a 69-year-old Georgian citizen, was arrested on July 20, 2016. He was charged with involvement in an armed grouping which seized a building of the patrol-and-post service regiment of the Armenian police. Khachatur Gichyan refused to admit guilt. On November 11, 2016, it became known that the charge of taking hostages filed against Khachatur Gichyan had been withdrawn. On October 19, 2017, advocate Anna Djuvanova reported that the health state of Khachatur Gichyan had deteriorated.
On July 17, 2016, an armed detachment "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sasun) from among supporters of the "Constituent Parliament", captured the building of the police regiment of the patrol-and-post service (PPS) in Yerevan. The charges in the case on the capture of the building of the patrol-and-post (PPS) regiment were filed against 47 persons.
Khachatur Gichyan with his heart problems could not remain in a cell of the penitentiary institution "Nubarashen". This was learned by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent from advocate Anna Djuvanova on November 9.
The advocate has also noted that Khachatur Gichyan voiced his health problem at a court session, and after that he was transferred to the hospital. "Here, the conditions of detention are slightly better than in a 'Nubarashen' cell," noted Anna Djuvanova.
