Investigators and Mukhtarly’s family disbelieve murder of his relatives
The deaths of Afghan Mukhtarly's sister and his two nephews was caused by the gas furnace that went out at night, said Elshan Mukhtarly, Afghan’s brother. Apart from this version, investigators also consider food poisoning as a possible death reason.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today in the town of Zagatala, bodies of Afghan Mukhtarly's sister and of his two nephews were found.
The perished Nurana Mukhtarly lived in Zagatala in a rented apartment, where the three bodies were found today, Elshan has reported. "They used a gas stove for heating, and left it on for the night. A strong wind blew the fire off; and the apartment was filled with carbon monoxide. Nurana, her child and a little daughter of our brother Ramazan died; Nurana’s another child has survived,” said Elshan Mukhtarly.
Forensic experts have already taken samples to define the possible death of the woman and children from suffocation or food poisoning. A criminal case was initiated under Article 314.3 of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code (negligence, which caused the death of two or more persons), the Zagatala district prosecutor's office reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 29, journalist Afghan Mukhtarly, who lived in Georgia since 2014, disappeared in Tbilisi. On the other day, he informed his advocate that he had been brought to Baku by force. On May 31, in Baku, the court pronounced the decision to arrest Afghan Mukhtarly.
