Detentions

At night on March 27, 19-year-old Usman Lorsanov, a younger brother of Islam Lorsanov, killed on January 25, 2017 after his detention by law enforcers, was taken away from his parents' apartment in the Grozny town of Mayakovsky. Relatives did not report the detention of the young man until April 5, since they hoped that the detainee would be released after an investigation and then they tried to find him on their own. On the other day after the Usman's detention, his father visited a law enforcement unit, where the young man had been supposedly taken to. The father managed to pass a transfer for his son, but he was not allowed to visit the detainee. In recent days, the city police department has not registered any detainee with the surname Lorsanov, but that does not exclude the possibility that law enforcers still keep him, reported a source from the Department for Grozny of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). According to the source, law enforcers could detain Usman Lorsanov within the activities related to "preventing extremism." The relatives of Usman Lorsanov suggest he could be detained for his phone conversations with friends about the fate of his elder brother.
