Forbes estimates Mikhelson's and Kerimov's losses from US sanctions as $1.64 billion

Leonid Mikhelson, a businessman and a native of Kaspiysk, and Suleiman Kerimov, a senator from Dagestan, lost more than 1,6 billion US dollars as a result of the US sanctions imposed on Russia on April 6, the Forbes has estimated.

In the list of the richest people in the world for 2017, published by Forbes on March 6, Leonid Mikhelson, stayed at the 64th position with a fortune of 18 billion US dollars. Suleiman Kerimov, born in Derbent, with a fortune of 6.4 billion US dollars entered the top 300 richest people in the world, and he was in the 20th place in the top 200 richest businessmen in Russia in 2017.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 6, the USA added Russian businessmen and high-ranking officials to the new sanctions list, in particular, Suleiman Kerimov, an MP from Dagestan in the Russia's Federation Council (a Senator).

According to the Bloomberg News Agency, on Monday, April 9, 26 out of the 27 richest Russians suffered financial losses.

According to information posted on the Forbes website, due to US sanctions, Leonid Mikhelson, the Novatek co-owner and a native of Dagestan, lost about USD 800 million; and Suleiman Kerimov, a Senator from Dagestan, lost USD 840 million.
