Nikol Pashinyan announces change of governors in Armenia

On May 21, Nikol Pashinyan, new Prime Minister of Armenia, announced that the Armenian government decided to replace all governors.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this year, mass protests led to a change of power in Armenia. On May 8, opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan became the Prime Minister of Armenia and the actual head of the state.

On May 21, after the oath-taking ceremony for the new government of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan announced the government's intention to replace all governors in the country, the TASS reports.

"We have made a decision to change all governors," announced the Prime Minister of Armenia as quoted by the TASS.

Among the main tasks of the new government of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan has mentioned holding early parliamentary elections. "Early elections are a priority. However, despite that fact, the government should work in a regular way and submit long-term programmes," the Prime Minister said.
