Founder of "Golden Apricot" Film Festival in Armenia tells about help to young filmmakers

The "Golden Apricot" Film Festival has opened the GAIFF Pro cinematography platform to help young filmmakers from Southern Caucasus, Iran and Turkey, said Arutyun Khachatryan, the festival founder. According to his story, 33 film projects and ten applications on unfinished works have been accepted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 8, the 15th International "Golden Apricot" Film Festival opened in Yerevan. Initially, it received over 600 applications from 83 countries; and 110 films were included into the contest and off-the-contest programmes.

Mr Khachatryan, who is also an Armenian filmmaker himself, has noted that throughout its 15 years, the festival has remained dedicated to its motto: "Crossroads of Cultures and Civilizations".

According to his story, the "Golden Apricot" has become an important international cultural event of the region and has its unique place in the world film market.

"This year, the festival has brought together the best films and the best filmmakers, which and who will benefit not only Armenian spectators, but also young filmmakers," Arutyun Khachatryan has added.

The festival platform is aimed at producing films for cinematographers from the countries of Southern Caucasus (Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan), Iran and Turkey.
