In Georgia, a policeman explains killing a suspect by self-defence
In Poti, a policeman is accused of abuse of authority after the man wounded by him died. The defence demanded to re-classify the case and pointed to the trauma got by the policeman during the detention of the suspected robber.
The policeman pleads not guilty, his advocate Iosif Djanashiya reported. According to the advocate, his client acted in accordance with extreme necessity, and the right is guaranteed by the law.
The incident in Poti occurred on July 23.
"The man tried to steal money from a pay-in machine and hit my client with a hammer to the head. After that, the policeman fired a pistol due to extreme necessity," said Iosif Djanashiya.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported about another armed incident involving a policeman in Georgia. On June 15, the chief of the police station was fatally stabbed in the village of Mukhaestat.
