Armenian ex-president's security chief released on bail of 2 million US dollars
The defence refused to name the person who pledged Vachagan Gazaryan, a former security chief of the third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Major-General Vachagan Gazaryan was detained on June 25; a large sum of money was confiscated from him. On June 28, Gazaryan was arrested on charges of illegal enrichment.
The court agreed to release him on bail of one billion drams (about 2.1 million US dollars), the lawyer Armen Arutyunyan said, calling this amount unprecedented.
Let us remind you that Serzh Sargsyan resigned on April 23 against the backdrop of the "velvet revolution" in Armenia. On May 8, the opposition leader, Nikol Pashinyan, was elected the head of the Armenian government and the actual head of the country.
