Georgian and US marines train boarding fight skills in Black Sea

Fighters from the Coast Guard of Georgia and personnel of the USS Carney destroyer of the US Sixth Fleet have conducted manoeuvres and trained boarding fight exercises.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Georgia quitted the idea to create its naval forces, but the country regularly conducts exercises on cooperation with ships and NATO.

On August 26, joint exercises were conducted by fighters from the Coast Guard of Georgia and marines from the US destroyer USS Carney, which arrived in the port of Batumi three days earlier, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.

Together with the crews of three Georgian Coast Guard boats, the marines from the US destroyer conducted boarding fight training and practiced manoeuvres. Besides, Georgian border guards have been trained in providing first aid on board, the "News-Georgia" reports.

The main goal of the exercises is to stop and detain a manoeuvre intruder ship.

Since 2015, Georgia holds joint exercises with soldiers from the NATO countries within the Noble Partner programme. In 2018, more than 3000 soldiers and officers from 13 countries took part in the exercises.
