Law enforcers detain protesters in Sunzha

The protesters against the transfer of a part of the territory of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia to Chechnya left the venue, when dozens of law enforcers' cars arrived there. Some activists were detained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today in Sunzha, a spontaneous protest action against the land transfer began; about 50 people came to it. Some of them stopped taking part in it after receiving law enforcers' threats.

The protesters did not put forward any demands. Local officials told them they did not decide anything, and suggested activists to move to Magas, the capital of Ingushetia. After some 30-35 UAZ vans drove up to the venue, protesters began dispersing. By noon everyone has left. Some activists were detained, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

By 6:45 p.m. Moscow time on September 26, the Ingush branch of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) posted no information about detentions in Sunzha.

Today, the heads of Chechnya and Ingushetia have signed an agreement on the border separating the two republics. According to the document, the republics have exchanged equivalent non-residential areas. A protest against it took place in Magas as well.
