Investigation state pressure on witnesses in Gamidov's case

The Basmanny Court of Moscow has prolonged by three months the detention of Abdusamad Gamidov, a former Dagestani Prime Minister, and three other former high-ranking officials. The defendants are using their administrative resources to exert pressure on witnesses, an investigator has stated in court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the above high-ranking officials are charged with a fraud of more than 100 million roubles allocated to the social sphere and an investment programme of Dagestan. None of them has pleaded guilty.

The above court has extended the custody term of Gamidov, Isaev, Yusufov and Shakhov until December 31, the RAPSI (Russian Legal Information Agency) has reported today with reference to Yunona Tsaryova, the press secretary of the court.

The investigator has stated that the defendants' guilt was confirmed by witnesses' testimonies and results of operative-search activities. Even being in custody, the defendants put pressure on witnesses, the TASS quotes the spokesman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), who spoke at the trial.

"According to the data received from the Dagestani FSB branch, the defendants are using the administrative resources of members of the republic's government to exert pressure on the participants of the trial and take measures to liquidate consequences of their crimes," the TASS quotes the investigator as stating.
