Marifa Sultygova resigns as MP of Ingush Parliament

At the background of the rally in Magas, Marifa Sultygova, an Ingush MP, has refused from her parliamentarian mandate, local Internet sources have reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 26, Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Evkurov signed the agreement on securing the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia. Residents of Ingushetia took to mass actions in protest against the transfer of lands.

On October 4, 17 out of 25 MPs voted to ratify the agreement on fixing the border with Chechnya, the Ingush authorities has stated. However, the MPs told the rally themselves that 15 out of 24 parliamentarians voted against the ratification.

The Telegram-channel "Ingushetia_2018" has confirmed today that Ms Sultygova resigned from her MP's post.

"Marifa Sultygova is worthy of respect. She's resigned and left!" the channel said.

The channel also posted a video from the sitting of the Ingush Parliament, where the vote on the issue of the agreement on the Ingush-Chechen border failed.

"I've voted in such a way that I am not ashamed before my children or my people," the video shows Marifa Sultygova emotionally declaring from the tribune; and after a short speech in the Ingush language, she leaves.

Another Telegram-channel, "Search for Ingushetia", has also confirmed today the fact of MP Sultygova's resignation: "By blackmail and threats they forced her to leave the Parliament. She's resigned," the channel has stated.
