Prisoner dies during a hunger strike in Gldani Prison

Giorgi Pasiashvili, a prisoner of the Gldani Prison, who was seeking to be released, died after a 40-day hunger strike.

A year ago, Giorgi Pasiashvili was arrested after injuring his neighbour. The man was serving his sentence at the penitentiary institution No. 8 in Tbilisi.

The prisoner demanded to be released, and he refused food and, later, drug treatment in protest, the "News-Georgia" reports today with reference to the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel.

The body of the deceased man was transported to the examination bureau, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.
